The word of the year so far, at least from what I've heard, has been "digitization." Financial institutions are digitizing many, if not all, their products and services to keep up with today's ultra-smooth Amazon experience most consumers now take for granted. We've been spoiled and expect this super simple and personalized experience every where we go.
Oftentimes getting left in the digitization dust is the digital marketing efforts of a credit union. Many FI marketers have their heads spinning on how to keep up with of today's modern and increasingly complex marketing practices. Gone are the days of just placing ads in a newspaper, 30-second spots during drive-time radio, and, if you were really daring, a TV commercial during the local newscast.
Don't get me wrong, those efforts still work in most cases. But, with the advent of mobile, data analytics, social media, and more, today's marketing has gone virtually digital, as well. It's gotten quite complex, giving many credit unions with limited resources a big headache on trying to maintain.

Thanks to the folks at Mastercard, we were able to secure a pretty special interview with former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, who now is a successful winemaker with his Washington-based winery Doubleback Winery.
Drew was in San Antonio keynoting at the ICBA Live on his experiences transitioning from the gridiron to the boardroom. So we sat down with him and talked about this transition, along with business lessons learned, why he chose the wine industry, and how patience and perseverance have played a huge role in his second career's success.
But we couldn't let Drew get away without talking a little football. So we asked him how his college and pro experience has helped him succeed in today's highly competitive winemaking world. Drew also commented how his situation with New England Patriots' Tom Brady is similar to Dallas Cowboys' Tony Romo and Dak Prescott.
Since he was with the Patriots for nine years, we also inquired on what traits have made this elite franchise so successful for so long -- especially in the era of salary caps and free agents. He added how company's can emulate this success to weather great change.
